We know that building true social networks for clients can be a frustrating process for many of them. Most know that doing these right is not about hiring some intern to post your latest sales offer. Many know that the process will be time consuming and require a partial leap of faith that they are not jumping into the respective platform too early or too late. So we set about helping our clients insulate themselves from getting caught jumping into a platform like MySpace just as everyone is jumping out.
We began understanding the need last year when our agency was hired to develop a Facebook platform for a national distributor of over 100 craft beers. In researching the project we realized that we needed a platform with at least a six year shelf-life in order to ensure ROI for this client.  Six years in social media is a lifetime (Facebook is just turning six and Twitter is only four years old). What happens if they invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into Facebook just to have it become the next MySpace, or become outpaced by a platform like FourSquare? The solution was to develop a plug-and-play platform that could be a hub for all of their social sites. This hub would give the client a centralized web-url to promote along with the  flexibility to add or remove social platforms as needed. The result is thebrewcrew.com and was a first step in understanding the long term need for this type of solution for our extensive and growing list of social media clients.
Ultimately, regardless of what solution you find, it’s important to ensure you have some plan to keep your brand from getting mixed up in the Social soup.
